Standalone DVRs These DVRs are standalone security DVRs that are an easy solution to your security needs. View, record, motion detection record, and remote view your cameras through the internet using a standalone DVR.

Outdoor Weatherproof DVRs DVRs that are designed to be used outdoors. These DVRs are fully weatherproof and ready to be exposed to the elements.

DVR Cards DVR Cards install into a vacant PCI slot on the motherboard of your Windows computer. The included software handles the viewing, recording, motion detection recording, and remote internet viewing.

Windows Based DVRs Windows Based DVRs do all everything an Embedded DVR does, but they also are a fully-functioning Windows XP computer.

Body Worn DVRs These recorders are small, portable, can fit in your pocket or purse, and would typically be used with a hard-wired hidden camera.

Laptop Recorders Laptop recorders connect via USB port to your Windows computer. They are your only choice if you wish to utilize your laptop or notebook computer for surveillance.

A DVR recorder is a way to record video from your surveillance camera.  DVR recorders come in a variety of forms. The most common style is a standalone DVR (or standalone security DVR).  These allow you to connect either 4, 8, or 16 cameras (depending on the model) to a standalone piece of hardware. This DVR allows you to view any or all of your cameras at one time on a TV or computer monitor.  It also allows you to record continuously, on a schedule, or most commonly - on motion detection.  Our security DVR systems also offer the ability to view your cameras over the internet from anywhere in the world using your computer or mobile phone.
That is a question that has different answers for every customer - but we will try to answer it.  By and large, the vast majority of customers end up ordering a standalone security DVR.  This is because they are ready to go out of the box and not use their computer for the surveillance.  If you're on a tight budget, the best option is a DVR card or USB DVR.  These cost quite a bit less because they need to use your computer to operate.  The DVR card will need to be installed into a vacant PCI slot in your computer and the USB DVR will connect to your Windows computer's USB port.  Then you install the included software onto the computer.  The combination of a DVR card or USB DVR and your computer essentially turns your computer into a DVR.  So you either purchase the standalone DVR and that is it - or you purchase the DVR card or a USB DVR and then you must use it with your computer.  All roads lead to the same end result, but each system has its pros and cons.
