Police have released a bank surveillance photo of the suspect in the April 7 bank robbery of the Bank of the West branch in downtown Los Gatos.

The robbery occurred at approximately 3:55 p.m. at 308 N. Santa Cruz Ave.

Police say the robber, who was armed with a handgun, got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

He is described as a white or Middle Eastern man, between 40- and 50-years-old and 5-feet-6 inches tall to 5 feet, 9 inches tall. He weighs between 160 and 170 pounds and had a scruffy beard at the time of the robbery.

Police say he was wearing dark pants, an olive green polo-type shirt and a dark green or grey sports coat. He was also wearing an olive green baseball cap with colored stripes and black shoes.

After the robbery the man fled on foot toward Bachman Avenue.

Police also suspect the man attempted to rob the Bank of America on Mission Street in Santa Cruz just a couple of hours before the Los Gatos hold-up.
