New Zealand Wants To Install Cameras in Taxis

There have been two attacks on Tauranga taxi drivers in the past two days.

Tauranga-Mount Taxis driver Mohinder Singh, is recovering at home after being assaulted by a passenger in Brookfield on Sunday morning.

Another driver working for the same company, was robbed and threatened by a passenger last night.

Company manager Bruce Rainey says the two attacks are worrying.

"There's some sort of perception that our guys are an easy target."

Mr Rainey wants to install security cameras and screens in new vehicles. but says he cannot do so until the Government review into driver safety is out.
