Home Security Camera Catches Crooks In House

WEST MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, PA - Police in York County solve a string of burglaries with the help of home security video. The surveillance camera caught two men pulling into the driveway of a West Manchester Township home, then breaking in.

"They had no idea what they got themselves into when they just drove up, they were dead meat," said Joe Mason of West Manchester Township.

Joe and Sharon Mason never expected the security camera on the front of their home to pick up a crime. The video shows two men pulling in the driveway and then breaking into the home. About 25 minutes later, the two left with a shoebox full of jewelry and other valuables.

"We've had the cameras for a while, but I never in my dreams thought we would actually be catching criminals with it," said Sharon Mason of West Manchester Township.

The men caught on camera are David Keefer,30, and David Ellis, 29, both of Dover. Police say the two are linked to multiple burglaries in the Dover Township area.

"It is a terrible violation to know that someone came in and was rooting through all our stuff," said Sharon Mason.

The Masons installed the camera three years ago to keep an extra eye on their home. They say the investment was well worth it.

"I'm not going to get back the things that were stolen, but at least I know that they are behind bars," said Sharon Mason.

Keefer and Ellis are facing a long list of charges including burglary and conspiracy.
