27 Percent of Landlords Enter When Tenants Are Not Home Blog

In a news article out today, it has been reported that 27 percent of landlords enter when the tenants are not home - and without their permission.
Laws vary from area to area regarding the privacy of tenants. In some areas, because landlords are the property and building owners, they are allowed to come and go as they please. Other areas have tighter privacy laws - laws specifically designed to safeguard the privacy of tenants. Regardless of the laws, very few tenants are ok with the idea of anyone being in their apartment, condo, or townhouse when they are not there. If all landlords were reputable and honest people, this statistic in itself might not be so bad. But, when you factor in the reality that some people will steal when given the chance, it is a much more disturbing statistic. If a landlord has free reign in your apartment when you're not there, they may take something. This may have already happened to you. And if it hasn't, there's a decent chance that it might. Theft is a serious crime. Not only is there a monetary loss, but one cannot overlook the feeling of being violated. Not to mention there are many things you have which may not be valuable in a monetary sense, but quite valuable in a sentimental sense. The unfortunate reality is that many people will steal when given the chance. Due to our legal system in this great country, you are innocent until proven guilty. That means that if you want to press charges against someone for theft, you will need proof. Otherwise it's the tenant's word against the landlord's word. One of the easiest ways to get proof is using a hidden camera. Hidden cameras have been changing over the last few years. As technology evolves, so do hidden cameras. The are smaller, higher quality, and cheaper than they used to be. You could get a hidden camera at Advance Security for less than $180. It blends in easily virtually anywhere, records on motion detection, and easily plays back the recorded video. This item by itself could cheaply and easily get you the video proof you need of the entries and thefts taking place. Hopefully landlord entry or theft never happens to you. But if it does or you think it does, you should definitely consider our Guardian Hidden Camera.
